Imagine walking through a green wetland, enjoying the sounds of chirping, splashing and croaking only 9 miles from the Las Vegas Strip. Hidden from easy view, just such an oasis thrives at the easternmost edge of the seemingly dry Las Vegas Valley. The desert’s secret oasis is the 2,900-acre Clark County Wetlands Park. Miles of trails along the water’s edge, watchable birds and wildlife, shady rest areas and beautiful vistas make the Park perfect for a “walk on the wild side.” The Nature Center’s newly completed Exhibit Gallery and auditorium anchors the Park, providing interactive exhibits, dioramas with life-sized native wildlife and plants and a film showcasing Park wildlife, trails and the river-like Las Vegas Wash. Recreational opportunities, educational programs, and stewardship events led by Wetlands Park staff and volunteers inspire meaningful connections between people and nature.
